Comparative Study of Solvent Effect for Mandelic acid Oxidation by Different Oxidants

چکیده

The mandelic acid oxidation has been carried out by benzimidazolium fluorochromate (BIFC), morpholinium (MFC), dichromate (BIDC), chlorochromate (MCC) and tetraethylammonium (TEACC) using different solvents as dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), formamide (DMF), chloroform (CF), acetone, dichloromethane (DCM) 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) at 308K, which results in the corresponding oxoacids formation. By TOPSIS method, we analysed solvent effect found order solvent’s performance score for reaction DMSO>DMF>DCE>ACETONE>DCM>CF. with all oxidants resulted formation of oxo acid. mechanism involved construction a cyclic chromate ester fast pre-equilibrium then decomposition subsequent slow step via concerted symmetrical transition state leading to cases.
